President Begaj: Albania committed to successfully delivering on EU integration reforms

TIRANA, April 27 /ATA/ – The President of the Republic Bajram Begaj on Thursday expressed Albania’s determination to successfully deliver on its reform efforts and make progress towards accession into the European Union.

In his remarks at a joint press conference with the Croatian counterpart Zoran Milanović in Zagreb, Albanian President expressed gratitude for Croatia’s valuable assistance and support for Albania’s EU integration process.

“As an initiator of the EU-Western Balkan Summit back in 2000, Croatia has been and remains a staunch supporter of the EU enlargement process and the EU membership of the Western Balkan countries,” Begaj said.

“I assured my friend Zoran that Albania and institutions are committed to successfully deliver on the EU-related reforms and I informed him about the concrete outcome of the second intergovernmental conference between the EU and Albania. I also underlined that Albania is a trustworthy European partner regarding its foreign and security policies,” Begaj said.

President Begaj noted that “the latest geopolitical developments in the wake of the unjustified Russian aggression on Ukraine underline the paramount importance of the regional security cooperation, including protection from the cyber attacks. Albania is a staunch supporter of Ukraine also through its role in the UN Security Council.”

Begaj invited Croatian President for an official visit to Albania.
