PM Rama: Any vote for persona non grata would damage Albania

TIRANA, April 27 /ATA/-By Maela Marini/ – Prime Minister Edi Rama, also leader of the ruling Socialist Party, urged voters on Thursday not to back the candidates proposed by the persona non grata in the May 14 mayoral elections, saying any vote for these individuals would hurt Albania.

The Socialist leader said that justice may be delayed for former PM Sali Berisha and former President Ilir Meta, but it will in no way not be denied.

“How come whole that big family and right-leaning community propose no other offer, but instead follow a persona non grata and are forced to tick on the side of the name of Ilir Meta on the ballot paper?” Rama said.

According to him, Ilir Meta and his party approach to two main political parties, namely the DP and SP, “just to bite and take away whatever he can from their bodies.”

The Premier stated that the two are unwelcome by Albania’s strategic partners and allies.

“This is also the case in Europe, which doesn’t designate certain individuals, but refuses to open its doors to the individuals declared persona non grata by the United States of America,” PM Rama stated in his remarks at a campaign meeting.
