Berberi: 100 USD for reconstruction of 27 bridges

TIRANA, April 26/ATA/ Albanian government will spend 100 million USD for the reconstruction of damaged bridges.

In a television interview, Director of the Albanian Road Authority Ervis Berberi said that the loan that will enable this project is available.

“The World Bank board has already approved the loan for Albania. We are talking about an investment of 100 million dollars. The rehabilitation of the bridges starts this year and continues over the next 7 years”, he said.

Berberi emphasized that Beshiri Bridge will be the first to be built anew.

“In the first year, there will be built 3 bridges, the Beshiri Bridge, the Viroi Bridge, and the Dragodi Bridge, which will be a new bridge on the Vjosa River that connects Tepelena region with the opposite regions and will also be useful by Memaliaj people”, said Berberi.

Berberi said that the study on the condition of the bridges was conducted after the earthquake of November 26, 2019. He assured that, despite the damage suffered, no bridge is impassable.

“‘Despite the damage from the 2019 earthquake, there are no dangerous bridges to cross. All the investments have been made to restore these bridges back to higher standards,” Berberi said.

There are 186 bridges in all of Albania, but only 101 of them according to the study have resulted in problems and will undergo the reconstruction process./gj.m/p.s./
