Rrumbullaku: 20 joint investigation teams, active with EU countries

TIRANA, April 19/ATA/ Director General of the State Police Muhamet Rrumbullaku participated in the opening of the 43rd conference of the chiefs of police of European capitals, a three-day conference which started today in Tirana

In his speech to the event, Rrumbullaku emphasized the joint fight against crime and cooperation between countries.

He said that the common goal to strengthen cooperation and increase even more the security parameters in our countries is materialized in exchanges of information and experiences, in the development of trainings, joint investigations and operations, as well as in providing mutual logistical and technical assistance.

“The fight against organized crime and illegal trafficking is an absolute priority in all our countries. We all agree that one of the most efficient ways to destroy organized criminal groups operating in different countries is the creation of joint investigative teams, but when it comes to the practical implementation of this important tool, problems arise from legislation, the organization and different powers of law enforcement agencies, as well as problems with human and material resources to support these joint teams. The Albanian State Police has 20 active joint investigation teams, of which 14 with Italy and the rest with other EU countries and EUROJUST and the results are promising. In this framework, difficulties have been encountered in their functioning, for the reasons I mentioned above, so I invite you to use this activity, to exchange ideas and thoughts on how this cooperation can be facilitated,” said Rrumbullaku.

Also, Rrumbullaku emphasized the fight against cyber crimes and the cooperation between countries in this challenge. /p.s./
