TIRANA, April 16 /ATA/ – President of the Republic Bajram Begaj sent his best wishes to Orthodox believers on the Easter Sunday.
In his message, the head of state said that Easter marks the revival and resurrection of life.
“Happy Easter to all Orthodox faithful! This is a holy festival of resurrection of life, hope and joy and it represents a fresh start! May this holiday be blessed for all Albanians,” President Begaj said.
Begaj extended his Orthodox faithful in the south-eastern city of Korça.
“I decided to visit Korça on this holy day, because the city is renowned for marking this holy festival with an incredible festive atmosphere,” Begaj said.
Easter is an important festival and cultural holiday commemorating the resurrection of Jesus Christ after He was crucified on Good Friday, symbolizing His victory over death and triumph of life.
Hundreds of Orthodox faithful attended the Resurrection Mass at the Saint George Church in Tirana and other Orthodox churches across Albania on Saturday midnight.
