TIRANA, April 13 /ATA/ The profit of the banking sector is increasing even in the first months of 2023.
According to data from the Bank of Albania, for the period January-February, the net profit of the banking system reached ALL 5.3 billion.
Compared to the same period a year ago, this indicator increased by 128%.
The increase in profit has brought significant improvement in other indicators as well. Thus, the sector’s return on capital, averaged on an annual basis, increased to 17.01%, from 7.86% in January of last year. Meanwhile, return on assets rose to 2.01%, from 0.9% in the same period of 2022.
These data are based on the reporting standards according to the requirements of the Bank of Albania and mainly have an indicative value for the performance trend of the system. The legal reporting standards for banks are International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), but they are only available on a quarterly basis.
