Ibrahimaj: Good performance with revenues influences salary increase

TIRANA, April 13 /ATA/- Minister of Finance and Economy Delina Ibrahimaj stated that the Albanian economy has reacted well in recent years, despite the difficulties that the whole world faced.

In an interview for the “Top Story” television broadcast yesterday evening, Ibrahimaj spoke about the reform undertaken to increase salaries.

She said that we have reached a stage of economic development that enables us to undertake such a great reform that has never happened before.

“There have been two years which, although for the global economy have been difficult, the Albanian economy has reacted well in 2020. Like all the countries of the world, we went into recession; however, in the fourth quarter of 2020 we had positive growth. The Albanian economy reacted with flexibility that was a result of either the government’s policies or dynamism of the Albanian business”, the minister emphasized.

The minister said that at the beginning of 2021, Albanian economy recorded a growth of 8.5%.

“We believe that both the public, which is the largest employer, and the private sector have reached a level that can afford and should afford higher wages. In the mix of policies we made for salaries, we announced a short time ago the increase of the minimum salary, it is the only element that it is up to the government to influence salaries in the private sector”, Ibrahimaj said.

According to her, economic growth is related to income growth.

“This year we had good revenue performance; it was partially influenced by prices, but also by economic growth, good administration, processes and digitalization that have brought an increase in revenue performance. This reform will be partly financed by the continuation of the increase in revenues that will be affected by these elements, but also by the fiscal policy in the time frame of 7 years”, the minister emphasized. /Top channel/p.s./
