TIRANA, April 10 /ATA/ Support funds for agriculture and agro-processing are trickling down to a growing number of beneficiary farmers in different areas of the country, who are increasing investments in their agricultural business.
Marsel Bejko together with his family have built with utmost passion and dedication the winery in Përmet, which today is the key point of the market for about 40 farmers, who deliver their grapes for processing.
As part of the support of Agricultural and Rural Development Agency, the “Bejko” winery has installed a new grapes processing line with modern machines and equipment, increasing processing capacities and enabling the local farmers to sell much more produce from their vineyards than yesterday.
Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Frida Krifca, said that the “Bejko” winery was supported through a grant from the IPARD program, financed by the EU and the Albanian government, as well as through the diesel fuel measure from the National Agriculture Scheme.
“We support our farmers and producers to reduce costs and increase the quality of production, to make them competitive in the domestic and foreign market, giving added value to the ‘Made in Albania’ production and more income for the rural economy,” said Krifca.
Marseli, 44, from Piskova e Përmet, says that his family is closely connected to agriculture.
“My father is an agronomist and he guided me to choose the vineyard and the wine I should make. We produce white wine from debine, which is the autochthonous grape variety in the north of the Përmet area, and red merlot wine,” says Marseli.
“My goal is to produce the best aged wine,” Marseli says.
The “Bejko” winery is located on the side of the national road, in the village of Piskovë, Përmet. Situated in the middle of the well-known vineyards of Piskova, constructed as an extension of traditional wineries, it offers high quality typical products. After many years of activity, Bejko has been consolidated in the commercial network throughout the country thanks to the quality and quantity of production. Grapes processing, wine production and storage in the winery are done in natural conditions. The grape varieties that are processed are grown in the region of Përmet.
