PRISHTINA, April 4 /ATA/ The former president of Kosovo Hashim Thaçi expects that at the end of the judicial process he will be acquitted of all the charges against him.
Addressing the jury at The Hague, Thaçi said that he feels sorry for all the victims of the war, but added that the victims do not get justice when the innocents are persecuted.
During his statement to the court without taking an oath, Thaçi stated that he is innocent of all charges.
He said that one injustice is not remedied by another injustice.
Thaçi pointed at the report of the Swiss senator Dick Marty, which mentioned “organ trafficking and the ‘yellow house'”.
He said that the internationals had told him that the court had to be established in order to remove the black cloud over Kosovo.
“The world now knows that there was no organ trafficking and ‘yellow house’. Now I know, and the people have been excused from this. The black cloud over Kosovo has been removed. The sacrifice was worth it. I expect to be acquitted of all charges at the end of this process,” said Thaçi.
“I am confident that this process will be fair and transparent”, he added.
Thaçi’s speech ended with the presentation of the opening statement by his defense team.
In the rest of the session, Kadri Veseli’s defense team will speak for 45 minutes.
While later, ex-MP Rexhep Selimi is also expected to speak without an oath. /KosovaPress/p.s./
