TIRANA, April 4/ATA/ Prime Minister Edi Rama held a meeting with teachers in Tirana today where he provided figures for their salary increase.
In his speech at the meeting on the salary increase plan for teachers, Rama said that, “The monthly increase will be 3,500 for 9-year school teachers, 3,843 for secondary school teachers and 5,800 for principals. Thus, the teachers in the 9-year school will have a salary of 95,550, while the teachers in the secondary school will have 106,800 ALL.
“Of course, these are the basics and vary according to seniority and qualifications. This is the salary level for teachers, it’s a good, significant increase and it’s almost double the salary you had. Today, we are in a new phase in all aspects of the state’s financial parameters. We raise salaries so significantly, but we continue to reduce the public debt. This salary increase will bring more motivation and dedication to everyone’s work”, said Rama.
The head of the government said that, “This will also influence the private sector more.” It should also look at its own system as teachers go to levels that are competitive with the private sector.”
PM Rama explained that the salary increase will be realized in two stages; first, the 7% increase and the next step, i.e. next year, the teacher’s salary will go up to another level.
“We have made a two-step plan which will start now and will be completed next year in order to realize this increase. This scheme will be applied for the doctors, too. This is not a promise, but a financial plan”, said Rama./k.s/p.s./
