TIRANA, March 30/ATA/ The Assembly approved today with 70 votes in favor the draft law “On income tax”.
Before the approval of the draft law, the lawmaker of the Democratic Party in opposition Jorida Tabaku submitted an amendment requesting postponement of the law implementation.
According to Tabaku, “This draft law penalizes work because unfortunately this government does not appreciate the professional, the one who earns an honest income”.
“About 17,000 freelancers, lawyers, accountants, notaries, doctors, dentists, pharmacists will pay 20 million Euros more. This is the middle class of the society. This is the socialist tax which taxes the one who works the most, who is the most honest because if you are not honest, you will have fiscal amnesty. If you are corrupt, you will have the opportunity to legalize your money through fiscal amnesty. But no, if you are working, you will be taxed up to 23%”, she said.
Tabaku argued that, “This law is unfair, while adding that small business has been the most penalized since 2013”.
The MPs rejected Tabaku’s amendment and voted for the law in full./m.m/p.s./
