TIRANA, Feb 28 /ATA/ The US envoy for the Western Balkans, Gabriel Escobar, has spoken for the first time about the McGonigal case, stating that Albania-US relations have not been affected at all by the investigation launched by the FBI.
“Albania is a NATO ally and part of the Security Council. The McGonigal issue has not harmed our good relationship with Albania at all. Albania has helped us a lot on Security Council. However, I don’t want to comment too much on McGonigal as it is a matter for the FBI,” said Escobar in an online conversation with reporters.
According to Klan television, the senior US official also stated that the US State Department is not part of the investigations launched against the former head of the FBI’s Counterintelligence Department. /sm/
