Balluku: Albanian Development Fund will manage project on Buna River Bridge

TIRANA, February 27 /ATA/ Deputy Prime Minister, at the same time Minister of Infrastructure and Energy Belinda Balluku stated today that the Buna bridge project will be managed by the Albanian Development Fund.

According to her, the Buna bridge project will be designed by Albania, while the investment will be shared between the two countries.

“When it was talked about the value of the project, 9 million Euros, it was about a project not put on paper, a desire and an approximate cost according to the eyes of experts at that time. Today, we are talking about a real project, an initial engineering project”, said Balluku in an interview for ABC News.

According to her, it is Albania that will produce the project.

“The investment of the 300-meter bridge will be divided equally between the two countries, as the ministers have agreed today,” said Balluku.

The agreement for the construction of the Buna Bridge was signed today during the joint meeting of the two governments in Podgorica.

The bridge will be of category C1 and will be able to be used for cars, trucks, pedestrians, bicycles and will have two lanes as well as sidewalks.

The bridge, which will connect Albania with Montenegro and will be built over the Buna River, will have a length of 303 meters. It will have 3 arches and is expected to reduce the distance between the two countries from the current 37 kilometers into just 1 km.

Ulqini and Velipoja have a distance of only 1 km between them, but from the point of view of the current connectivity they have 73 km. With the new bridge project, the distance between Albania and Montenegro will get transformed into 1 km road./r.e/p.s./
