TIRANA, Feb 17 /ATA/ The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development is working hard to guide the creation and formalization of Local Action Groups (LAGs), as important stakeholders in the design and implementation of local strategies for rural development.
Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Frida Krifca hosted in a special meeting representatives of LAGs from different regions of the country, with a clear idea to support and encourage them in this new undertaking of LAG, as a nucleus that will bring benefits to the rural locality and to the smallest farmers in the area.
“After the approval of the new law on the creation of Local Action Groups (LAGs), the drafting of by-laws, the accreditation package for the Leader Approach, we keep in touch to guide the creation and formalization of LAGs, which we consider very important actors for the development and implementation of local strategies for rural development”, said Krifca.
The Minister said that, “we discussed the steps of this process in the Ministry and the solution of various problems with more than 20 groups of local actors from all over Albania who have joined us in this vision and decided to organize in different areas of the country as Local Action Groups to implement the Leader Approach of the European Union together with the respective municipalities for further development in their village or province.”
Krifca said that the path of rural development in Albania in the coming years will have the features and intervention measures that have been effective in Europe.
“With IPARD III we will be able to expand financing in rural Albania”, said the minister, pointing out that, “the future of rural development becomes secure through the interaction, participation and cooperation of the actors of the territorial areas around the natural resources of conventional agriculture, fishing or handicrafts, around all those factors that make a territory special”.
