TIRANA, February 13/ATA/-The opposition protest in front of the Assembly ended after about 2 hours.
The protest called at 17:00 hrs started with a clash between the protesters and the police.
After the meeting of the Parliamentary group of the Democratic Party in opposition, the Chairman of the DP Sali Berisha, together with his right-wing lawmakers, went towards the Assembly to attend the plenary session.
Some of the MPs had been expelled from today’s plenary session and for this reason they were not allowed to enter the premises of the Assembly, causing clashes between them and the Parliament’s security guards.
MP Luciano Boçi told reporters that they had received only a disciplinary measure.
“This means that I do not have the right to ask to take the floor neither for the procedure, nor for various amendments. But, the MPs can take their seats and follow the session without interference,” said Boçi.
Meanwhile, the supporters of the opposition joined the protest called by Berisha in front of the hall of plenary sessions of the Assembly.
After the expelled MPs were not allowed to enter the plenary session hall, the protesters clashed with the police and tried to break the police cordon.
They threw smoke bombs.
Berisha said to the protesters that their protest was for a just cause, the McGonigal’s case and Edi Rama./p.s./
