TIRANA, Feb 3 /ATSH/ The Bank of Albania announced that in December 2022 the banking sector disbursed 30.6 billion in fresh loans.
Compared to a year ago, this indicator dropped by 25.8%.
According to BoA, the decrease in credit came mainly from the largest segment, that of businesses, while credit for households recorded values similar to December of the previous year.
In total, the fresh loan disbursed by the banking sector for 2022 reached the value of 278.5 billion lek, an increase of 5.3% compared to the previous year.
“The value of the fresh loan is the highest in the last seven years, but the increase came mainly in the first part of the year, while the second part pursued a clear slowing trend, reflecting the effects of high inflation and the fast increase in interest rates.
The curb that materialized especially after the month of September has reduced the rate of annual loan growth, growth that for 2021 had been 7.8%, BoA announced.
