TIRANA, Feb 2 /ATA/ – Prime Minister Edi Rama denied any connection to the Russian oligarch Deripaska, stating that neither Albania, nor the Albanian government or him have any connection to this individual.
In a TV interview on Thursday evening, the government head accused the opposition of frenzy propaganda and allegations of involvement with the Russian oligarch.
“In no case has one ever talked about this individual, except for most recently when the opposition parties, along with their media – actually their propaganda mouthpiece, because it would be an insult to the media concept if you are to call them media – suggested alleged connection to the activities of a leading Austrian company Strabak, where I learned that this person Deripaska has had shares in, but who has left the company shortly after sanctions were levelled against him,” PM Rama said.
“It would be equally the same if I were to allege that Austrian company Strabak, which operates for years now in Albania and has received millions of euros from the previous government, then the government had relations with the oligarch in question, but I won’t say that, because it would be ridiculous,” he added.
