Some 170 tree saplings planted; Mayor Veliaj: Farke Lake Park to open in spring

TIRANA, Jan 28 /ATA/ – The Mayor of Tirana Erion Veliaj, together with the Agricultural University students, as well as high school students in the area of Farke, planted a total of 170 tree saplings in the Farka Big Lake Park on Saturday.

Tirana Mayor announced that the Farka Lake Park, the largest green area in the Albanian capital city, is set to open this spring.

“In addition to these tree buds expected to open up, we also expect Tirana’s largest park to open this spring. This space is much larger than the Tirana Lake Park. I know than many of those who have witnessed Tirana park’s transformation think it is one of the most beautiful parks in the Balkans, but the Farke Lake park will be a lot more beautiful,” Veliaj said.

The pedestrian lane around the lake shore will serve as a training ground for the sportsmen and sportswomen in Tirana, especially this year when the Albanian capital has been awarded the European City of Sports title.

“Farke Park is definitely a major investment for green Tirana this year and the project represents an ideal coincidence with Tirana as the European City of Sports,” Veliaj said.

Mayor Veliaj urged citizens to join the tree planting campaign and contribute to the city so that two million trees are planted by end of 2030 in Tirana.
