TIRANA, Jan 25 /ATA/ – Technology and digitization lead to many automated processes and services, but, on the other hand, they come with an increased risk of personal data misuse, if the legal obligations to prevent repercussions are not met.
The Information and Data Protection Commissioner Office, in cooperation with the Albanian Center for Sustainable Development, through the support from the Swiss Embassy in Tirana, hosted a roundtable on “Digital era and personal data protection in the Banking Sector.”
The roundtable was attended by the Swiss Ambassador, executives of the second tier banks and the financial sector stakeholders, with discussions focusing on data protection in banking – supported by the Swiss Embassy as part of the Cybersecurity and Data Protection project.
In his remarks, the Information and Data Protection Commissioner Besnik Dervishi underlined that the exchange currency in the digital era is the personal data, which, on the other hand, is one of the most precious human assets.
“Data protection needs to be addressed as a matter of legislation, policies, regulations and capacities. Equally, we need to invest in awareness and the responsible behavior of citizens,” Ambassador Huber said.
