TIRANA, January 23/ATA/ Minister of Finance and Economy Delina Ibrahimaj attended the signing ceremony of the “Decent Work Country Program 2023-2026”.
The representatives of the Albanian government, organizations of employers, workers and the International Labor Organization (ILO), represented by the International Labor Office signed this program with the aim of cooperation to promote and advance decent work in Albania.
Minister Ibrahimaj positively assessed the cooperation so far with the International Labor Organization (ILO), the UN and the support they have given to the Albanian government, especially regarding employment policies.
The minister emphasized the fact that the efforts of the Albanian government in drafting sustainable policies, supported by international partners and in cooperation with Albanian businesses have been effective.
According to her, in the third quarter of last year, the unemployment rate was 10.6% and this reduction was influenced by the better performance of the labor market, either in employment indicators or in employment financing indicators.
The “National Decent Work Program 2023-2026” is the sixth for Albania and for Minister Ibrahimaj this shows the stability and determination to ensure decent work.
The document is in line with previous documents and the National Employment Strategy, where three of its objectives are closely related to decent work: improving the efficiency of labor inspection, promoting social dialogue in the labor market and improving policies for decent employment.
The Albanian government is committed to guaranteeing decent work and an initiative in this direction there will begin to be implemented during the current year the Youth Guarantee, a project in cooperation with the European Union, which will ensure that every young person up to 25 years old will have a job offer or a vocational training offer.
“It is a project that will engage funds from the Albanian government and the European Union and also focuses on the component of decent work, since it is not only important to have a job, but it is important that that job is appropriate to guarantee a decent life, not only for those young people who have all the opportunities to be employed, but also for vulnerable groups. In this respect, I want to thank for the cooperation we have with various organizations of the United Nations, which consistently help the Albanian government in the direction of vulnerable groups and not only”, said Ibrahimaj.
For her part, the resident coordinator of the UN in Albania, Fiona McCluney, expressed the readiness of the UN and the ILO to support Albania in facing the challenges related to both the economy and the labor market./j.p/p.s./
