TIRANA, Jan 20 /ATA/ Torrential rain and snowfalls have made circulation on some road axes treacherous mainly in the north and southeast of the country.
The Albanian Road Authority informed on Friday that the contractors have sent in equipment and workers on the ground to clean up the roads.
According to the ARA, the snowfalls have already started in Dardha, in Llogora, in Krujë-Sarisalltik, in Zapodi Bridge, Shishtavec at an altitude of over 700 m, where snow ploughs have been used to guarantee smooth traffic.
On the Bogë-Theth axis in the area of the tunnels, avalanches and mudslides have rendered difficult the traffic and the work of maintenance crews to clear the road.
ARA appeals to drivers to use caution when driving in rainy weather, to be equipped with winter tires and chains when traveling to mountainous areas, to slow down, and to adhere to road signage and instructions.
