TIRANA, Jan 9 /ATA/ – The Minister of Infrastructure and Energy Belinda Balluku stated Monday that all sections that have been opened to traffic along the long awaited Arbri Road linking Tirana with the northeastern Diber region on the Macedonian border meet the road safety standards.
Answering to reporters over the car accidents on this road in early days of January, Balluku said that there are no plans to close the road to traffic, but new sections of the road will open instead to shorten the drive time between Tirana and Diber to just one hour and 40 minutes.
“The accident you are referring to has nothing to do with the sections where construction work is underway along Arberi Road. The accident has taken place in the area of Gjorice, a section whose construction has completed for some time now. However, it would be better that we don’t jump to conclusions as long as the police investigation is still underway,” she said.
According to her, opening the completed road sections to traffic is now an established practice.
