TIRANA, Dec 28 /ATA/ – The yield on the 12-month treasury bills recorded a downward trend, falling to 5.47% year-on-year, Albania’s Central Bank said on Wednesday.
The Bank of Albania announced that the weighted average yield on 12-month bills decreased to 5.47%, from 5.8% in the previous auction, at the end of November.
According to central bank, the high participation in the auction played an important role in this decline. The finance ministry also sold 10 billion lek worth of 12-month T-bills, down from a bid totalling 16.3 billion lek.
The fall in yields on T-bills is explained by the fact that the Bank of Albania kept the key interest rate unchanged at 2.75%, after having increased it three consecutive times by 0.5 percentage points.
