Veliaj: Transformation of pyramid into innovation hub set to be completed by next spring

TIRANA, Dec 23 /ATA/ The construction of the National Theater will be completed by 2025. At the last meeting of the City Council for this year, Veliaj emphasized that Tirana has spent years on end with the debate about the theater and that he is determined to build it.

“As to the National Theater, we kicked off the works as you saw it. The ground is being prepared before the stage of drilling and excavations to lay the foundations. A debate that took us a lot of time, a debate that started in 1998, 24 years, just as “Skenderbej” square took us 17 years, started in 2000, ended in 2017 in our term of office. It took us 3 years to build just one segment the Great Ring Road to “Astir” neighborhood. “New Boulevard” took us 7 years. “New Bazaar” took us 2 years. The playground took us 1 year.
If you add all these years together, you believe that you are 100 years old, if you add them as years of life that you have spent engaging in these debates. We must admit that we are champions of many good things, but we also stand out for the waste of time. So I am determined that we continue with the National Theater project and in this term 2023-2025 we will complete that project”, said Veliaj.

Speaking about strategic investments in Tirana, the Mayor also spoke about the transformation of the Pyramid building into the largest innovation hub in the Balkans.

“Part of this strategic plan is the Pyramid of Tirana, which will be completed next spring. Special focus on digitization: So not just an equal start for everyone, but a better start than others. Not only better schools, but schools that teach Intel, artificial intelligence, such as the 10 high schools where the “Intel” company has opened artificial intelligence labs, Tumo courses offered to 5 thousand from 1 thousand children studying in such courses, as jobs in information technology in this city are well paid, such as at “Lut’hansa”, “Intel”, “Ritech” and many of the companies that have moved to Tirana,” Veliaj said
