Non-performing loan drops to 5%

TIRANA, Dec 9 /ATA/ The ratio of non-performing loans dropped in October, hitting a new low in the last decade.

According to data from the Bank of Albania, this indicator dropped to 5%, from 5.06% at the end of September.

The decline in non-performing loan is being influenced by the growth of the loan portfolio, but also by the fact that the consequences of high inflation have not yet been fully reflected on the indicators of production and employment.

The loan portfolio for the economy continues to maintain double-digit growth rates. At the end of October, the total value of the portfolio reached ALL 722.3 billion, an increase of 11% compared to the same period a year ago.

Fresh credit this year continues to show the highest level in at least seven years, despite a downward trend after September. The consistency of loan growth is an important factor in maintaining a downward trend of non-performing loans, because it enables their specific weight to be lower for the same value of non-performing loans. /j.p/sm/
