TIRANA, November 16 /ATA/ Environment Minister Mirela Kumbaro said that in face of climate challenges Albania has joined the global coalition for reducing CO2 in the environment.
Present at the International Conference on Ecological Opportunities for the Financial Sector in Albania organized by the Financial Supervision Authority, the Swiss Embassy and the World Bank, Kumbaro said that, “Albania is zero polluter for global warming in relation to other countries”.
Further on, she said that Albania has fulfilled the adaptation of the legal aspect according to the best standards in terms of protection from climate change.
In this aspect, Kumbaro continued, the priority is given to the expansion of Protected Areas.
“Today, we have increased the territory of Protected Areas from 17% to 21.5%, while we will keep the commitment to increase these areas”, said the minister.
She focused on cooperation with financial institutions for green investments that protect the environment and respond to the impact of the green strategy that Albania has already drawn up with a focus on the special challenges that address climate change./p.s./
