TIRANA, Nov 12 /ATA/-By Maela Marini/ – The Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku, also the Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, inspected Saturday the ongoing construction work on rehabilitation and expansion of the existing national road linking the Vlora airport and the newly-built Fier-Vlora highway.
The Deputy Prime Minister focused on the quality construction work and completion of work on schedule. She also noted that despite the political debate on major infrastructure projects, citizens in Vlora and throughout Albania broadly support these development projects.
Balluku said that the local residents defend such projects themselves and underlined that these investments have significant impact not only on the local economy, but also on the national economy.
“Vlora international airport is designed to be the largest airport in the Balkans and it provides the Balkan region a new opportunity to access. It will have an impact not only on the Albanian economy and its tourism industry, but also on regional tourism,” she said.
Deputy PM also underlined that the development projects in Vlora will significantly help in development of the regional infrastructure.
“The Triport will be transformed into an important commercial cargo port and a fishing harbour. The Triport area will be transformed in all its dimensions as an important industrial area,” she said.
