TIRANA, Nov 4 /ATA/ – By I.Vata/ Minister of Justice, Ulsi Manja, stated on Friday that independent justice is our guarantee on the pathway to European integration.

At the press conference after the ministerial, Manja said that during these days Tirana was at the center of the European agenda of the Western Balkan countries.

“With counterparts from the Western Balkans and the EU, we had the opportunity to share common challenges. We also highlighted our achievements in terms of the rule of law, reforms in the judiciary, the independence of the judiciary, the fight against corruption and organized crime and money laundering. We also spoke about the Russian aggression in Ukraine, as a flagrant and open violation of international law,” he said.

Manja added that, in compliance with international law, we will have to join forces not only by taking sanctions and targeting the people who finance the Russian aggression in Ukraine, but in the framework of Eurojust we will advance and carry forward the investigations of war crimes in Ukraine”, he said,

Manja emphasized that “our reforms in the judiciary consist in strengthening the rule of law necessary to have open democratic societies, to guarantee juridical security to our citizens, but also to support sustainable economic development, because justice is the cornerstone of our countries’ development”.

“An independent, impartial, efficient and effective justice is a guarantee not only of the freedoms and rights of our citizens, but also for the prosperity of our countries, which accelerates our country’s journey to the EU”, he emphasized.
