TIRANA, Nov 3 /ATA/ – By Maela Marini/ Prime Minister Edi Rama said on Thursday that “ERE figures out the real price of energy, while the thresholds are set based on the government’s policy.”
Rama explained during a televised interview that “ERE does not make decisions about the energy threshold.”
“Thresholds are set by the respective enterprises and based on a government policy. ERE sets the price. ERE has figured out the real market price, a whopping price, so we have decided that family consumers and small businesses should be shielded,” said Rama.
Prime Minister emphasized that the government has applied a financial shield under which 20% of the energy bill is paid by the families and 80% by the government through the state budget.
“The financial shield has nothing to do with ERE, but with our policy. ERE figures out the real price. Our plan is to introduce a threshold to encourage saving on the one hand and to make sure that those who exceed the 800 kilowatts cap will pay the real price,” said Rama.
Rama said that no country has frozen the price of energy, all of them have increased it.
“There is no way for the price to increase less and the protective measures to increase more because it makes no sense. The price has increased and some financial support has been provided to buffer the price increase but not to offset it. There is not a single country from these that you mentioned that
