TIRANA, Nov 2 /ATA/ – By I.Vata/The Chairperson of the Commission for the Organization and Control of Electoral Operations, Albana Vokshi, stated on Wednesday that the primaries will be held in the 72 branches of the Democratic Party.
Vokshi said that every citizen can be registered as a sympathizer within the established deadlines and decide to vote for the candidate for mayor in the municipality where he lives.
“What I want to highlight is the fact that the primaries are an inclusive process. It’s a game changer. For the first time, it was applied by the Democratic Party in the March 6 by-elections, in the 6 municipalities where the elections took place. But primaries will now take place in 72 branches of the Democratic Party. Other than they will not only leave anyone out, anyone who believes that they have support in the opposition electorate, but not only, can run according to certain rules that will be outlined today. Any citizen who believes that his vote does count can sign up as a sympathizer within the specified deadlines and decide to vote for the candidate for the first citizen in the municipality where he lives,” said Vokshi.
“The primaries are the foundation of the credibility of the Democratic Party, which was born to be the party of free votes, the party of free people. The primaries will once again show the citizens, beyond the Democratic Party, that we are the best alternative to govern not only the municipalities, but to govern the country,” she said.
