Rama: Joint societies to boost food industry

TIRANA, October 28 /ATA/ Prime Minister Edi Rama encouraged today the creation of beekeepers’ joint societies so that to boost food industry, raise the value of the product, increase opportunities for sales and bring much more income.

During a meeting with farmers in Shupenze, Bulqiza, Rama focused on the idea of farmers joining with municipalities so that to create agro-processing points.

While evaluating highly the work of the mayor of Bulqiza, Rama said that now cooperation between the municipality and farmers should be built for the production, collection and sale of products.

“All these products that come out can increase in value and bring more income if we start doing agro-processing as well. If those products on the market produced in an artisanal way begin to be processed with quality in agro-processing points, packaged with quality, they become products more attractive to the market. Individual sales bring some income, but if the farmers join together and make a project with the mayor for a point of processing, packaging according to the types of honey, then they have an autochthonous product with great value and high quality. They can sell this product much better than making contracts with buyers who buy in bulk,” he said.

The prime minister said that joint farmer-municipality societies should be created and turn to the government to seek support or through the sovereign guarantee fund to receive loans guaranteed by the state. /j.p/p.s./
