12 billion Lekë support for energy sector in 2023

TIRANA, October 26/ATA/ Albania is facing the global energy crisis, but the Albanian government has so far kept the energy bill for the population unchanged.

Even in the draft budget of 2023, there have been provided 12 billion Lekë as support for the energy sector so that to continue maintaining the unchanged price for family consumers and for the majority of businesses.

But, this will be conditional depending on the weather conditions, the energy markets, as well as the financial condition of the production companies.

In order to protect the strata most in need of the population, ERE approved to maintain the current price of 9.5 Lekë per kilowatt up to the amount of 800 kW per month and after this level, the billing at a price of 42 Lekë per kilowatt for family consumers.

The period determined to start implementation of the 800 kW level from October 1 was postponed to November 1, after improvement of the situation in the cascade of the hydropower stations, due to rainfall and reduced consumption.

This support follows two significant interventions in the 2021 and 2022 budgets with respectively 10 billion Lekë in 2021, and 28 billion Lekë support for this sector in 2022. /j.p/p.s./
