TIRANA, October 25/ATA/ Speaker of the Assembly Lindita Nikolla participated in the First Parliamentary Summit of the International Platform for the Crimea.
The summit was organized by the Parliament of Croatia and the Parliament of Ukraine and was held in the Croatian capital, Zagreb. Speakers of the parliaments of member countries of the International Platform for the Crimea participated in it, including Speaker of the US House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi, President of the German Bundestag Bärbel Bas and others.
The summit activated the Parliamentary dimension of support for liberation of Ukraine and other global security issues.
In the plenary session of the summit, Speaker of the Assembly Lindita Nikolla stated that, “Albania, in the capacity of a non-permanent member of the Security Council, together with the United States, is a co-penholder at the Security Council for the defense of Ukraine. The war in Ukraine reminded us that the aggressions are neither a matter of history, nor a political rhetoric, but are a real threat to all humanity, to our continent and the world. Ukraine’s war is our war.”
“Nowadays, synergies between terrorist attacks and military aggressions can easily develop. These synergies multiply the risks to the countries and regions that are the target of these attacks. Albania has been the target of cyber attacks because of its serious commitment against Russia’s military aggression and its contribution to peace and freedom,” said Nikolla.
“Russia’s military aggression against Ukraine and cyber attacks against free nations are not only attacks on sovereignty. They seriously threaten democracy and civilizations in Europe and on the world. Therefore, support for Ukraine and the countries that are the target of cyber attacks is a contribution to democracy, democratic values and institutions”, said Nikolla.
“In Europe, as well as in other regions of the world, the creation of defensive military alliances is not always accompanied by an effective political partnership. Political partnership makes military alliances more effective. Military alliances can serve as a catalyst for strong and lasting political partnerships. We should all consider such an interaction”, said Nikolla. /j.p/r.e/p.s./
