TIRANA, Oct 25 /ATA/ The Security Academy held on Tuesday the ceremony for graduation of 246 State Police students and the beginning of the course for another 225 youths who, together with the students coming from excellence, will coordinate the work to fight crime and illegitimacy and will guarantee the life and property of citizens.
Minister of Interior, Bledi Çuçi, in his remarks at the ceremony said that, “today you embark on a long, difficult, yet fascinating and noble journey because the State Police career begins here and for most of you, I have no doubt will end when you reach retirement age.”
“It will be tough because you will be on the frontline of the confrontation with crime and with the latter becoming more and more sophisticated nowadays, with the definition of new criminal offenses, your work will also get more complex.”
Çuçi availed his opportunity to give some instructions and advice to the new employees of the State Police.
“First and foremost, don’t be seduced by the lure of corruption and crime, because not only will you be punished to the fullest extent of law, but both corruption and crime will strip you of dignity. They will make you a useless being and when you realize this, it will be too late to make up for that,” said Çuçi.
“Second, don’t let the crime defeat you, be brave. Not only crime, but also politics, which unfortunately continues to this day the path of mudslinging, reviving the phantoms of old politics. Do not let these attacks subdue you. Look to the future. Look to law enforcement,” Çuçi emphasized.
“The police continue to be one of the institutions that has the highest trust in the community. Despite the attempts to drag it through mud, it continues to this day to be one of the institutions that enjoys the trust of the public and society. And not only the trust of the Albanian public and society, but like never before the trust of our international partners. If a few years ago the cooperation with the police, with European law enforcement agencies was up to the level of information exchange, today we are talking about joint police operations and joint investigations with European law enforcement agencies. Right now there are 17 operations in process. Something that was unthinkable a few years ago.”
“Good news came with the draft budget for 2023, whereby the entire budget of the State Police has increased 16% compared to 1 year before. And for 75% of the police force, we have started a salary increase of 15% since October.”
