TIRANA, October 24 /ATA/ The Democratic Party in opposition welcomed the decision of the President of the European Union to hold in Tirana the joint summit of the EU member states with the 6 countries of the Western Balkans at the beginning of December.
In a statement to the media, DP emphasized that this decision is a new affirmation of the European Union towards the European perspective of Albania and all other countries in the region. The decision also proves the great significance of the Berlin Process for Albania and the region and marks the end of the divisive trilateral alliance Belgrade-Tirana-Skopje, in the framework of the Serbian-Russian Open Balkan project.
“The summit will be a real opportunity for the statesmen of the EU, to get to know closely the dramatic situation of rampant corruption, the terrible connections of the government officials with organized crime and drugs, the extremely serious situation of the media in Albania”, reads the DP statement./r.e/p.s./
