Rama: Retirees cannot afford to pay for those consuming up to 5 thousand kW

TIRANA, Oct 19 /ATA/ PM Edi Rama stated on Wednesday that energy saving on the side of the citizens will enable the govt. to stop short of applying the 800 kW threshold.

“Saving today is necessary, so that we have the opportunity not to apply that threshold, which we actually pondered to shield the vast majority of consumers,” Rama said at a meeting in Gjirokastër.
Prime Minister said that pensioners cannot pay for those who spend more.

“Pensioners cannot pay even for those who use more than 800 kilowatts, because those who use more than 800 kilowatts are too many,” said Rama.

Prime Minister went on saying that Albania is not a country where people die of starvation.

“Albania is not the sort of country where people die of starvation, and where everyone lives on 30 000 ALL. There are many people, who receive minimum wage, but there are many others who earn above the minimum wage and there are 60 thousand subscribers who consume 1 thousand to 5 thousand kilowatts. If they spend less, we will have more for everyone,” said Rama.

The Prime Minister informed that the government will stick to the policy of salary increase

“We will increase salaries as much as the budget allows us to do such a thing. We preferred to focus our primary support on the subsidy of energy price, and on the invoice each one has there is an item that shows the real price of the energy,” stated Rama.
