TIRANA, Oct 18 /ATA/ Minister of Education and Sports, Evis Kushi, participated on Tuesday in the meeting with the rectors of public and non-public universities to discuss the process of higher education institution ranking with the participation of Prime Minister Rama.
Minister Kushi thanked the rectors of the Universities for their participation underlining the close cooperation with them which, as she said, “has been strengthened and institutionalized through the Joint Committee for Higher Education Policies, a committee that also includes representatives from non-public universities.”
“The past three years have been like no other, first the earthquake, then the pandemic and this year is tough because of the war in Ukraine, where Albania is not an exception to the impact of this war, so more cooperation and partnership is needed in the face of these challenges,” said Kushi.
“Despite the setbacks, she continued, this year we managed to have some new policies, such as the launch of priority programs, a legal obligation that is now a reality. Also, students who choose these priority programs, excellent students who win international Olympiads, will be exempted from paying the tuition fee, but will also be entitled to scholarships equivalent to the minimum wage, which is a novelty for this year,” she said.
Focusing on the improvement of the educational infrastructure, Kushi pointed out that important investments have been launched. She said that Tirana Agricultural University will have a campus up to the best standards, but also Faculty of Medicine and other universities countrywide.
Kushi appreciated the successful work that has been done in terms of the internationalization of Universities.
