TIRANA, Oct 17 /ATA/ – By Maela Marini/ Prime Minister Edi Rama stated on Monday that “we are globally heading to the era of a great threat and we must be firmly united with each other and with our allies and strategic partners, in order to cope with this new plague, as we did with the earthquake and the pandemic, mitigating as much as possible the inflationary burden on the people of Putin’s war against the West, shielding them from the storm of soaring energy price, as well as exposing the opposition of the ruble and isolation from the West.”
After the meeting of the Socialist Party leadership, Rama informed that “all the basic tasks related to the activity that is due to start tomorrow have been assigned before spreading throughout Albania and reaching out to all communities, either for local governance or for common challenges.”
“We have entered an era of global threat. We are forced to face the great threat of this era that comes from an aggression on the doorstep of Europe, which has resulted, in addition to countless bombs and crimes in Ukraine, in soaring prices of energy and basic products all over the world,” he added.
“On the other hand, even though it is not the government that has driven the inflation up, it is the responsibility of the government and the ruling majority to do the utmost to buffer the effects of this war on the country’s economy and on the shoulders of families. For this reason, we have done everything we can and will continue to do everything we can,” said Rama.
The Prime Minister informed that “we are finalizing the next year’s budget, which is twice as high as the 2013 budget, which shows that the tables have turned in terms of the country’s future.”
“First and foremost the budget has increased twofold out of the necessity to continue shielding everyone as much as possible. We will stick to the plan to shield the households and small businesses from the sparing price of energy. But we also hope for continuous downpour as we rely heavily on hydro sources in order to import less. However, we will continue to import because Albania does not produce enough to meet all domestic needs,” said Rama.
“Of course we have a tough winter ahead, but the measures put in place and the massive support we will continue to give to all categories, I believe, will ease the burden in a reasonable way,” he said.
