New version of “My Tirana 2.0” mobile app launched

TIRANA, Oct 15 /ATA/ The Municipality of Tirana in partnership with the Vodafone Albania have launched the new version of “My Tirana 2.0” application, which has been redesigned to better suit the needs of citizens. This version introduces an improved experience in using the application, in addition to updating and redesigning existing sections such as: report, pay parking, transport, tourism, traffic, tree planting map, etc.

At the launch of “Tirana Ime 2.0”, the Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj said that with the new version, any information will be more easily accessible.

“Today, the city has more dimensions than just collecting garbage, planting trees or obsolete infrastructure that is out of service. The city has taken on large tourist dimensions as this year has seen a boom in tourism exceeding the pre- Covid-19 number of visitors. The year is not over yet and Rinas airport is about to reach the figure of 7 million passengers. The year is not over yet, but in Tirana we have had more visitors than residents. The year is not over yet and Tirana hotels are not only fully booked, but AirBnB, or other alternative services, are exceeding their capacity. Getting to this point also requires us to upgrade our relationship and our mobile applications,” he said.

The general director of “Vodafone Albania”, Katia Stathaki, thanked the mayor Veliaj for the ongoing cooperation to make Tirana comparable to other cities of the world in the field of innovation.

“The second version of this incredible app is the result of a praiseworthy team work. It brings to the fore the determination and the will of the leadership of Tirana to offer digital services to its citizens, as well as the support of Vodafone Albania to put technology at the service of people. Today’s cities offer countless opportunities for innovation and the digital transformation of society. And through digital transformation, we can guarantee an urban future that is more sustainable and flexible, but that also adapts more easily to challenges and changes. To build smarter cities, the government and administration must embrace public-private partnerships, and harness all the talent and capital necessary to rise to the challenges that lie ahead of us. I am happy and exciting to continue the cooperation with the visionary mayor, to help the latter realize his vision and develop technology and information services that benefit the citizens of Tirana and Albania”, she said.

Meanwhile, Veliaj addes that if someone wants to check the outdoor air quality in Tirana, suffice it to open the application and there is no point in diving into discussions.

“Today there are heated debates going on about varied topics in the city, from air quality, quality of life to the price of property. But today technology has enabled us some things that no longer require political debates. The point is, if we have a satellite, like Copernicus, whose data are used by all mobile applications that forecast the weather, such as Il Meteo, they rate the air quality in Tirana as green, which is good. My ambition is to be very good, and excellent, yet it is better than the red and orange rating when we took office caused by the black cloud moving from Sharra, or emissions of lime production in Fushë Krujë. There is no point in debating anymore. These data go beyond the left or the right wing. Suffice it open an app that tracks the air quality and we are all done with debating. If it is rated green, then we are on right track and let’s see what to do better, if it is rated red, then I should be crucified for that,” said Veliaj.

Since the first launch until today, 39,000 citizens have directly reported problems through the “Tirana Ime 2.0” application, which have been addressed and resolved in a short time, making the application the main channel of online communication.
