Zhupa: No beach meets criteria

TIRANA, October 13/ATA/ The Democratic Party MP in opposition Ina Zhupa raised the concern about the lack of security and standards on the beaches. While taking the floor today in the plenary session of the Assembly, during the requested interpellation with Minister of Tourism and Environment Mirela Kumbaro, she said that, “Our country is blessed by nature and very hardworking people, but cursed by government officials who do not fulfill their duties”, said Zhupa.

Zhupa brought to attention some bitter events that happened during this tourist season. She said that, “You all remember the assassination event of the little girl in Himara. Was Mirela Kumbaro responsible? In another state, the minister would have resigned”.

“The government is responsible for granting licenses for boat stations and for fencing the perimeter at sea. If the government had taken the proper measures, do you think that tragedy would have happened?” said Zhupa.

According to Zhupa, there is no safe beach in Albania that meets the criteria, among which she mentioned the cleanliness, the tested water, the supervision and rescue service or the garbage cleaning.

“There are 32 criteria, but I want to focus only on a few, such as water quality control on beaches, conditions for people with different abilities on beaches, rescue supervision, etc. Let the minister herself tell us about the problems and progress of this year’s tourist season”, said Zhupa. /j.p/p.s./
