Progress report, Bumçi: An alarm bell and red flag

TIRANA, Oct  13  /ATA/ The member of the Democratic Party leadership, Aldo Bumçi, reacted Thursday over the progress report published yesterday by the European Commission.

In a media statement from the DP headquarters, Bumçi said that, “the progress report of the European Union for Albania is an alarm bell and a red flag.”

“A long list of violations, unmet criteria and works left undone or badly done turn Rama and his administration into the poster of poor governance,” said Bumçi.

“The main concern of Brussels remains the fight against systemic corruption and especially corruption at a high level,” emphasized Bumçi.

“Since the list is long, we will skip all comments, publishing only the main criticisms of the EU and remembering that the report contains all the concerns that the opposition has repeatedly brought up. DP’s essential concern about depopulation is cited in the report, but also our fierce criticisms of fiscal amnesty and “golden passports”, said Bumçi.

After listing some of the main findings of the progress report, Bumçi said that, “we call on Albanians to join us in nationwide protests. A country at risk can only be saved by addressing the root cause of all evils.”
