TIRANA, Oct 11 /ATA/ The US ambassador to Albania, Yuri Kim, said on Tuesday that the US is aware of the efforts to entice and intimidate judges and prosecutors.
“We are aware of more efforts to entice or intimidate judges and prosecutors, to pervert justice, to insist on impunity for the powerful – in other words, to drag Albania back to the past,” Kim said in a posting on social media.
“Judges and prosecutors must carry out their duties in accordance with the law, with integrity. It’s time to break the old patterns of corruption and illegal influence in the judicial system,” Kim said.
Albania must move forward, not backwards, not even stand still,” Kim said.
“The USA is paying close attention to all developments and will continue to strongly support the implementation of justice reform.
