TIRANA, Oct 4 /ATA/ – By I.Vata/- DP MP Jorida Tabaku stated on Tuesday that she supports the university teachers’ protest for salary raise.
In a post on social media, Tabaku said that their protest is just in relation to the economic situation of the country.
“According to INSTAT data, prices have soared by 14%-30%. Fuel price has increased either. Education has been one of the most underfunded sectors and whenever the government needs funding for concessions and PPP, it cuts the budget earmarked for education,” she said.
Tabaku added that “From 2017, when a government decree set the salary level, most of them were affected, which has not happened for lecturers.”
“Today, teachers work in extremely difficult conditions. With the failure of the reform in education, they have found themselves at the mercy of fate, they have been left with no choice but raising funds themselves for the smooth running of the university. “
