TIRANA, Sept 29 /ATA/ – By I.Vata/ The Democratic Party MP, Jorida Tabaku, stated on Thursday that the law on fiscal amnesty is a burden on honest businesses of the country.
In a media briefing, Tabaku called on the opposition not to vote for the law on fiscal amnesty.
“What I asked and will ask all the deputies of the Democratic Party and the opposition is to refrain from voting the law on fiscal amnesty. The law requires 84 votes, so votes from across the political spectrum are needed to push it through parliament. I think that the opposition should put up a united front to protect the economy, but also the European integration process,” she said.
Tabaku said that the law on fiscal amnesty is not in line with EU laws.
“We have been in touch with various representatives of the diplomatic corps in Albania, but also the special envoys, who have cited even the fiscal amnesty among their concerns about certain government initiatives. On behalf of the Democratic Party, I have opposed the fiscal amnesty which is at odds with the rule of law, with equality before law, but on the other hand harms the work of honest businesses. In my opinion, as well as of the experts, it will affect future tax payments and open the way for criminal and corruption-derived capital to thrive.”
