TIRANA, Sept 27 /ATA/ The “Bashkim Fino” primary school, part of the 12 new schools that opened the doors this school year in Tirana was inaugurated on Tuesday in a ceremony which was attended BY the Tirana mayor, Erion Veliaj, and Minister of Education, Evis Kushi.
In his remarks, Mayor Veliaj said that this school, which is added to Unit 2, puts the number of new schools built in Tirana at 40, which is a record number in our country.
“Last year we opened 14 schools, this year 12 new schools and 8 kindergartens; we will continue with the package of new schools next year as well, but I believe that since the proclamation of Independence in Albania, so many schools have never been built. The “Kosova” school is one of them, the “Jordan Misja” art school either, the ballet school as well, we also reconstructed the “Osman Myderizi” and “Mihal Grameno” schools. The pyramid will soon be a national school, again of Unit 2. But, I believe that an original school of the neighborhood, of our community, is the “Bashkim Fino” school that opens today,” said Veliaj.
Paying tribute to the former Prime Minister Bashkim Fino, who took office with a special mission, as that of national reconciliation in the difficult year of 1997, Veliaj said that after 24 years, Albania is still in need of national reconciliation.
“One of the discussions I had with Edi Rama was: how can we bring back national reconciliation, for which Bashkim Fino fought vigorously. It really breaks my heart having to see people sling mud at each other every day. There was a group that agitated for “Sami Frasheri”, then a group for “Jeronim De Rada”, another one started to agitate for the schools that are being built with the support of the UN and the EU, the procedures of which have just started. How come we talk about national reconciliation in 2022?! How come in 2022 people involved in politics and hang through the railings of schools?! Those who bet on the failure of our school project are brainless?! How can you bet against your country?!
For her part Minister of Education, Evis Kushi, said that this school was a necessity for the Unit 2 community.
“Since last year, together with the Mayor, we have inaugurated many new schools in Tirana and every time I visit them, the first thing that comes to my mind is: “This is the most beautiful school I have ever seen”. But here we come to the next school, which is even more beautiful, and it seems to me that today I have not seen any school as beautiful as this one. The construction of this school, right here, is a very important contribution to the area, because it has been a constant demand of the residents and with its capacity of 900 students the two-shift learning system will phase out,” said Kushi.
