Balla: Open to cooperate with opposition on Territorial Reform

TIRANA, September 26 /ATA/ The Whip of the Parliamentary group of the ruling Socialist Party Taulant Balla stated today that the SP is ready to listen to the Parliamentary groups of the opposition regarding the changes in the Administrative-Territorial Reform and the Reform in Justice.

Speaking to reporters in front of presidency of the Assembly, Balla said that, “We have agreed to extend the mandate of the commission by 3 weeks so that to give more time to the experts to finalize the final stance”.

“What is more important than the Administrative-Territorial division is that the public services offered by the municipalities following the 2014 reform have been improving, but still are far from what they should be”, said Balla.

Balla added that the SP group is ready to listen to all Parliamentary groups in the Assembly until there is finalized the report of the Special Commission.

Regarding the changes in the laws in context of the justice reform, Balla said that beginning from 2016 onwards, there has been a review of certain issues within the Justice Reform package to resolve impasses or to make interventions that accelerate or regulate certain issues of Justice Reform.

He said that the SP does not have the required 84 votes to intervene in the system and therefore, it must create as much consensus as possible.

“I recall here that in February of the current year, we intervened in the Constitution to extend the mandate of the Vetting bodies and the process continues. Fortunately, we are in the final stage and there are less than 200 judges and prosecutors remaining who need to be evaluated by the Vetting”, said Balla./j.p/r.e/p.s./
