TIRANA, Sept 20 /ATA/ About 5,370 farmers have applied in the first 19 days since the launch of applications for the financing of wheat cultivation in the country.
Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Frida Krifca, announced that those interested are from all over the country, for a production area of over 24,000 hectares.
According to Krifca, Fier, Korça, Shkodra, Vlora are the regions with the highest number of applications so far.
And while the interest of farmers to access the financial support of 30,000 ALL per hectare, for an area of no less than 1 hectare seems to be high in other regions of the country, applications for fresh wheat planting financing are open until September 23, 2022.
The total fund allocated by the government to stimulate wheat production in the country as a cushion against the transition of international markets due to the Russia-Ukraine war is 500 million ALL.
This scheme and also that of tax-free diesel oil support are designed to increase farmers’ budgets for agricultural work and cut production costs.
To be eligible for subsidy, the applicant must be equipped with active farmer NIPT, The land must be owned or in use (rent, lease, etc.); to have a fiscalized invoice for the purchase of seeds and chemical fertilizers.
The Ministry aims for the area cultivated with wheat for the coming year to reach 70,000 ha in total. Currently, an average of 233 thousand tons of wheat is produced in the country, while the amount imported is lower than the production. /j.p/sm/
