EU support for Western Balkan countries to boost resilience against cyber-attacks

TIRANA, Sept 20 /ATA/ – Mayors from Western Balkans cities and representatives from businesses are discussing in Tirana ways how smart cities can solve problems and improve the carbon footprint.

In a statement on Tuesday, the EU Delegation to Albania voiced support for the Western Balkan countries in the face of cyber-attacks.

“Security measures are required to mitigate the threat of cyber-attacks on smart city infrastructure. The EU is already and will continue supporting Western Balkans partners and Albania to detect, respond to and increase their resilience against cyber-attacks,” the EU Delegation said.

The Conference “Smart Secure and Green City Solutions, Risks and Potential in Western Balkans”, which started in Tirana on Tuesday, is inspired by the next generation of urban evolution by engaging municipalities, citizens and business in an intelligent and connected ecosystem.

The two-day conference includes nine sessions, focusing on development of the smart cities, the innovative ideas of tech companies, the cyber defence of platforms and the projects funding.

The second day of the conference will provide the participants with the opportunity to familiarize with the best practices of the cities, where smart projects have been implemented and their impact.
