TIRANA, Sept 5 /ATA/ – The President of the Republic Bajram Begaj extended his best wishes on the Saint Teresa Canonization Day on Monday.

“Saint Teresa of Calcutta, symbol of happiness, stemming from profound love for life and greatness of human dignity,” Albanian President Begaj said on a post via the social media.

“The Albanian saint is symbol of self-sacrifice  and denial of personal privilege to unsparingly serve to the poor, those in pain and suffering, the vulnerable and forgotten individuals,” President Begaj said.

“In a world rushing towards the material, Her example is an invitation to look inside ourselves, inside our families and societies to cultivate love for others and the best spiritual values of our people that Mother Teresa has held high like nobody else in the world,” he added.

Saint Teresa Canonization Day is observed on September 5. Mother Teresa is widely revered as a saint and one of Albania’s most influential national figures. Religious ceremonies are held in her honor across Albania on this day. Mother Teresa had a peace mission, and she dedicated her life to helping the poor.
