TIRANA, August 25/ATA/ Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku, at the same time Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, responded today to the claims raised in the last few days, regarding the price of oil traded in the country, as well as the role of the Transparency Board.
During a briefing after the government meeting, Balluku emphasized that the Transparency Board does not influence the price of oil.
“The board is there to control and make public transparency. As a Board, we neither reduce, nor increase fuel prices. I recently heard from the media and politicians that the price of oil has fallen on the stock market, while in Albania it is rising. This is not valid. The price referred to is for the raw product. Meanwhile, the price we speak on the Transparency Board refers to the Platts stock exchange. Therefore, it is easy and transparent to see how the prices are today in the stock market”, said Balluku.
As for the comparison with the region, Balluku stated that the difference has to do with carbon or circulation taxes, which citizens in other countries of the region pay separately and are not included in the price of fuel as they are included in our country.
“This is the difference. If you subtract the price of fuel from these taxes, you will see that the price would go to the same levels”, stated Deputy Prime Minister Balluku./p.s./
